Hollywood Days - The Wonder Years, Part 3

Pin It Now!
I think it took seven days to film this episode. On one of the days I sat at a large table with the rest of the cast (although I don't remember the dad being there) and had lunch. Don't ask me how, but the subject of abortion came up. And that I was pro-life. Someone then asked, "Are you a Christian?" I said "Yes." Then Jason Hervey said, "Born Again?" I said "Yes." He got quite agitated.

"One of my best friends became a born again Christian and now he won't even talk to me! He took my girlfriend to some church service and wanted us to go up front to receive Jesus! And I'm Jewish!" To say the least He was quite annoyed and unimpressed with his friend and his newfound faith

Sounded like his friend was just a new Christian, excited about his own faith. And pushed Jason too far. You know they say new Christians should be locked up for a while because they sometimes go overboard, get too pushy and turn people off?
I listened to Jason's venting and responded the best I could. It was something like this, "I can't speak for your friend. I can only tell you what it means in my own life. Being born again simply means you have decided to follow Jesus. It's not a religion, but a relationship with God through Jesus. Born again is just a term that freaks everyone out. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your friend."
Then somehow the conversation turned to talk about Jesus being God in the flesh.
"What? Jesus is God in the flesh?!" exclaimed Jason. Apparently another hot button. "I've never heard that!" Another person at the table chimed in, "I've never heard that either." So my fifteen-year-old self tried to explain the Trinity and I actually got some back up on this one. The mom on the show, Alley Mills, piped in. "Um, yeah. That's right. I'm Catholic and that's what we believe."
Yeah that whole sign of the cross thing - Father, Son, Holy Spirit dealio. Thank you Alley. And that is all I remember of that lunch interaction. Here is the third clip from the show:

Update: Had to to remove from youtube because of copyright. So if you want to see it - It is season 5, episode 15 and it's on Netflix.

Here is what I believe:
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus though fully God, through the incarnation became fully human and lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Wonder Years was a fave show of mine. Although I don't remember many details, watching this clip made me remember how bad I felt for Kevin in that scene, and how I promised to never be a 'Julie'! Thanks for the trio down memory lane!
