Stylin' Saturday - Makeup

My girls love to dress up and put makeup on. Sometimes I think They are too young for makeup. But then I think Awww, who cares? They love it. It entertains them. And me. And they don't wear it to school or on a regular basis.

So when they feel like getting fancy I let them. And it usually falls short of fancy and puts them into the horror movie/domestic violence victims look. But they have no idea. They love it and think they look gorgeous. Perhaps when they grow up they can teach me how to do my makeup because I am horrible at it. So the tip for the week - wear makeup and even if it looks horrible, WORK IT. OWN IT. TAKE A PICTURE OF IT. PUT A RING ON IT. (Not sure what that last line means in this context, but I really wanted to get that in there.)

It's been a while. I figured you needed some style inspiration so here it goes courtesy of Lydia and Jordis...

1. Raid your sister's closet.

2. Put on clothes that are mostly the same color.

3. If you are under 18, ask your mom if you can put on makeup.

4. Put on makeup and attitude.

5. Then pretend you are pregnant by shoving wrapping paper in your shirt. And no, they do not read People Magazine or watch reality shows. And yes, Fancy Nancy is totally photo bombing Jordis.

I worked out at home. Then it was time to get my daughter from kindergarten. So I threw on some rain boots and my coat. Because that's what I do. I put awesome outfits together without even having to get help from a website or a magazine. And when I realize the awesomeness of my outfit I think Yes, Im going out of the house like. Yes, I am getting out of the car. And yes I will see and talk to other moms. I better have my three-year-old capture the awesome.

Stylin' Saturday - Fanny Packs

How many nights have you spent lying awake wondering When, just when will fanny packs make a comeback??? I declare it's time. Time for the Fanny Pack Revolution.* Will you join with me?

I went shopping for rain boots and was so very excited to find these boots for $17. When I opened the box and found a fanny pack inside I began to sob uncontrollably. I considered the fanny pack alone to be worth the seventeen bucks and so the boots were actually free. It was a Christmas miracle.

If Mark-Paul Gosselaar could pull off the fanny pack in 1990 then what is stopping us in 2012?

*The Fanny Pack Revolution is gaining momentum. I know at least one person (whose blog rhymes with buppadim) who is committed and ready to fight the fight with me. Won't you join us?

My tip? If you don't dress like this then you probably are not getting enough sleep. Sleep a little longer, forgo the shower, the makeup, the hair . . . all that overrated stuff.

Stylin' Saturday - Link up?

I love looking at self-dressed kids in all their hodgepodge glory - rain boots in the summer, 14 layers of skirts, cowboy boots with bathing suits, disheveled hair, a makeup job or haircut by sister, and shorts over jeans. I also love viewing other momfits -- bad mom outfits when you just can't pull it together . . . or shower. And that's why I started these Stylin' Saturday posts 2 1/2 years ago.

Stylin' Saturday - Just Cut 'Em

Pin It Now! A few days ago I found some barbie hair on the floor. Then I saw Elijah's scissors on in my bathroom. Then I saw Lydia's bangs and realized that Barbie's hair was still in tact and Elijah was not doing a craft in my bathroom.
But Lydia was.
And she was proud. She thinks her new bangs look awesome.
Will I even them out and fix them? Maybe someday.

But for now, she can enjoy her awesome bangs.

Stylin' Saturday - Forehead Face Paint

A tip from Lydia and Jordis:

Face paint on the forehead is very in . . . the eyes when you take a shower to wash it off. Causes much stinging and burning. Only apply on the forehead if you are really committed and have a mom who has better removal skills than my mom.
