What do you do with all the Halloween candy your kids collect on Halloween?
Here is what we do at the Totally Desperate Mom house: After we trick-or-treat we dump out all the candy into one big pile. We set the timer for 30 minutes. Then we all eat as much candy as we can in that sitting. Then we throw the rest away. (I’m totally going to get kicked off the Fit Moms Fit Kids Club blogging team for that. Please sign the petition to keep me here.) Head on over to Fit Moms Fit Kids Club to see what we really do . . .

You throw it away? I say you pack it away with the Halloween decorations and hand it out next year. You can call it "vintage" candy...
I let mine keep it and eat it. I don't really limit it much for 2-3 days, and then they get tired of it on their own, and it sits until Christmas, when it gets thrown away, LOL. My kids are healthy and active, so I just don't worry about it much. Now me, on the otherhand, I'm Miss No Willpower When it Comes to My Sweet Tooth....
I actually believed you did the 30 minute thing for a second and thought it was a funny and good idea. Am I a bad mom? Josiah, look out! ;)
Tegan,
Next year it is.
Bethany,
My son would probably eat it until he puked.
Mama V,
The worst mom. Kidding. Try it out and let me know. Would be cheaper than a toy although i like the toy thing. Lydia picked out her trade-in toy. A $10 dancer barbie. She was picking the more expensive ones but I directed to her the ones on sale for $10.
My kids collect candy and then trade it in for a new book. We do not do much sugar so they really do not kow the difference. We pass out playdough, bubbles, cheap toys.
That is a great idea. I only let the kids have one piece of candy a day after dinner. That means we have it way too long. We usually end up trading the halloween candy in for easter candy, then the easter candy for halloween candy (yes, we still have easter candy). I am going to try your idea this year.
Oh Karisa - let me know it goes!
bridgeb - where do you live? I want to trick or treat at your house.
