Hap-Pee Birthday Shiloh!

Pin It Now! April 5th was my husband's 36th birthday.
He wanted to have a family day in San Francisco at the beach for his birthday. But what forgot to mention was that before that adventure he wanted a new mattress. So being the compliant child that she is, Lydia crawled into bed at some point in the middle of the night unbeknownst to us. And in the morning she peed our bed which somehow got on Shiloh and woke him up.
He hopped right out of bed and said "Happy Birthday to me! I guess I'm getting a new mattress for my birthday."

A few things you should know:
1. We did not have a waterproof mattress cover on our bed cuz our kids don't usually sleep there and if they do crawl in there we make them go potty first - unless we don't wake up. Oops. And I only pee when I exercise, not while sleeping.
2. Shiloh has an intense sense of smell and is a germaphobe. He would probably rather sleep on hardwood floors for the rest of his life rather than on a pee mattress. So please don't ever come to our house and pee on our mattress.
3. We were due for a new mattress so this just made it happen.

Before we left on our adventure I made Shiloh his favorite scones.

We got all packed up for the city and for our pitstop to Sleep Train.
Shiloh went in and picked his top 4 mattresses while I stayed in the car with the kids. Then I went in and approved and off we went to San Fran for our family day at the beach!

We stopped for lunch and of course visited our dear friend The Coffee Bean.

It was cold in San Fran, but my kids could not wait to get into their swimsuits. And once again, Lydia was throwin' tude for the photo shoot.

We went to the beach by Ghiradelli Square. Anyone recognize this man?For years he has been there singing and making up cute little songs about people who walk by.

He sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star for Jordis. She liked it until she got shy and ran away.

Off to the beach!
See the Golden Gate Bridge? Pretty sweet, huh?

I stayed on the sand the whole time. Wrapped in towels for warmth. The sun peeked in and out of the clouds. When the kids lips turned blue they would come sit on me for a few minutes to warm up and then would return back to the Bay.

Here is one of the three times Jordis got dipped in the ocean after she declared "I peed!"
Sorry ocean.

And I thought of my bloggy, crafty friends when we passed by this sewing shop in China Town. I imagine they all frequent this joint. If you look really closely you can see one of those yarn, flowerly wreaths hanging in the window.
Maybe you just need glasses.

That night Shiloh and I had dinner reservations for just the two of us at a nice restaurant. We planned to make it home to shower and get cleaned up before our date . . . but that didn't happen so we rolled like this. I had sand on my neck and Shiloh was looking good in his swim trunks and sandy feet!

It was a great day and we are enjoying our new mattress that does not have a hill in the middle of it.
