Hollywood Days - Sean Penn?

Pin It Now!
If you are new to my blog, on Wednesdays I post about my experience in Hollywood as a former child/teen actress. If you want to start at the beginning of these posts go here. If you are old to my blog, I know I have been slacking on these posts. If you could send me some extra time in the mail I would be blogging more. But you know what they say, jogging before blogging. Can't do it all. But here's another new one!
-----

If you have been reading my blog for a while and you have some sort of memory you might remember that David Moscow is one of my dear friends from my Hollywood Days. We met on a photo shoot for 16 magazine and have been friends ever since. You can read his guest post where he said I tried to save his soul. And you can read my Q and A with him if you want to know more about David. And lastly you can read here to hire him for your kid's bday party. You might know David from the movie Big or Newsies, but if you are really luck you saw him in Honey.  Incidentally, I'm changing the name of my blog to "Tales from David."

Last week Shiloh and I went on a double date with David and his girlfriend, Karen. They were in town for the 49er/Giants game so we met up with them after the game at the restaurant of their choice. In the Mission district of San Fran. The area was a bit, okay a lot, on the sketchy side, but the fantastic curb appeal of the restaurant and the clarity on awning for a restaurant David called "Mission Chinese" gave us a reassurance that this place was legit. Never mind that the menu consisted of pork jowl, sizzling cumin lamb, and thrice cooked bacon with rice cakes. I guess this is what years in Hollywood does to a person. Fancy restaurant snob. Good thing I got out when I did . . .

The food was actually good and the company was great, but the highlight of the night came after the meal when we were walking to our car. A woman approached David and asked for his autograph.  His Sean Penn autograph. She would not leave David alone. She screamed at the top of her lungs and followed us down the street "SEAN PENN! YOU ARE SEAN PENN! I NEED YOUR AUTOGRAPH SEAN PENN!" David kept saying "I'm not Sean Penn." But she insisted. She was not going to let him go. So finally David said "Do you got a pen?"
We stopped into another restaurant to get pen and paper while our new friend made a HUGE scene. "Sean Penn coming in!" She shouted as she cleared the (empty) doorway from him. People stared. Some guy asked Shiloh "Is that really Sean Penn?"
Sweet David signed his best "Sean Penn" autograph and posed for a pic with her. She was pumped. The moral of the story might be - "Hey kids. Don't do drugs." She clearly was not of sound mind and who knows her (probably sad) back story? But nevertheless, I'm hoping her Sean Penn encounters made her night a little bit better. It sure made an unforgettable night for us.

And yes, I did get a little of this action on video. You're welcome.

I love this: "the fantastic curb appeal of the restaurant and the clarity on awning... gave us a reassurance that this place was legit."

It reminds me of our favorite Chinese restaurant's awning that says: "EAT IN OR CURRY OUT." I giggle every time I see it.

Curb appeal is everything. Or maybe not.
