Feeling Fun Barbie

Pin It Now!
In 1989 I did a barbie commercial. I was 14 years old. A little past the barbie stage. But the marketing geniuses over at Mattel were trying to entice the teenagers. That was before cell phones so maybe there was a chance? Nahhh.

The Barbie was called Feeling Fun Barbie, but apparently in Canada it was called Barbie Jeans. It was a fun commercial because we got to boogie. Patsy Swayze (Patrick's Mom) choreographed our little routine and my hair got crimped - what more could a girl teenage girl want? Besides a barbie.

(me and Patsy)

You never know what you're gonna find on youtube.

I'm SO for little girls staying little girls for as long as possible, especially with all the pressure to grow up so fast these days, but that is flipping funny! Can't imagine being 14 and going to buy Barbie...Barbie Jeans no less! Did you get to keep one? ;)

Oh, that's such a sign of the times, isn't it?! Barbie seems to be the plaything of the 4 year-old set these days!

Caroline got her first barbie for Christmas this year. She carries her all over the house and thanks to Toy Story 3 she told me the other day that Barbie was lonely without Ken. Guess for her 3rd birthday in 2 weeks I will be adding Ken to the mix!

Thanks for the laughs!

Hahaha! I remember that Barbie. I didn't have that one, but one of my friends did. I thought that skirt was awesome. Your hair looks great crimped! Mine always looked awful. Very cute commercial.
