Days of Our Lives and Hammer Pants

Pin It Now! If you are new to my blog, on Wednesdays I post about my experience in Hollywood as a former child/teen actress. If you want to start at the beginning of these posts go here.
------
This is a rerun for some of you . . .

One of the charity events I participated was a visit to the MacClaren Children's Center (a really big group home) in Los Angeles. The event was hosted by Henry Winkler who was my very first crush, according to my parents. I had a pink "I love Fonzie" tricycle.
We met up at his house and took a bus to MacClaren. I only met Henry briefly, but I think he was the nicest, warmest person I met in Hollywood.

At the MacClaren house we mingled outdoors with the children. It was there that I met Chevy Chase, but didn't get a pic.
I also met MC Hammer. This was at the height of "U Can't Touch This" and hammer pants. Little did Hammer and I know that 20 years later I would be making a complete fool of myself dancing to his music on stage at the Design 4 Living Conference. I'll post that video another day . . .

Another year, I met Peter Reckell, known to me as "Bo" from Days of our Lives. I watched that show in junior high. Pathetic, I know. But maybe not pathetic as this awkward pose?

And here I am with Bubba Paris from the 49ers.

There were a lot of celebrities and professional athletes at this event. I hope these visits made those kids feel special and loved and brightened their challenging lives . . . if even only for a day.

I don't care what anybody says; "U Can't Touch This" is still an awesome song!

I used to love to watch Days of Our Lives when I was in junior high and I admit I'm still a DOOL fan today :) Wow, must have been great to meet Bo! And who can ever forget those Hammer pants?

I've always loved Henry Winkler because he and I (and Dostoyevsky) share the same birthday.

I hope that visits like these brighten the kids days as well. On another note I think Im officially a geek because I still watch Days of our Lives. I have not been able to shake this show since I was a kid.

It’s a simple but inspiring blog. I learn a lot from it. The main thing is simplicity and purity..
